INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY THERAPY
We support adults and children who are old enough for telehealth. Often age 12+. However, we can assess on a case by case basis.
Our licensed therapists provide individualized therapy sessions to help you manage anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. We use evidence-based techniques to help you achieve long-term mental wellness. Family therapy also offered.
Although our approach is eclectic, Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT) often guides the work. It may also include Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). All work is holistic and respects the individual and the impact of all systems (individual, family, work, school, community). It also respects culture as each individual's culture is an important part of "who they are."
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that emphasizes acceptance to deal with negative thoughts, feelings, symptoms, or circumstances. ACT therapy encourages increased commitment to healthy, constructive activities that uphold your values or goals.
ACT therapists operate under a theory that suggests that increasing acceptance can lead to increased psychological flexibility. This approach carries a host of benefits, and it may help people stop habitually avoiding specific thoughts or emotional experiences, which can lead to further problems.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psycho-social intervention that aims to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression and anxiety disorders.
Domestic Violence Therapy is a specialized form of counseling aimed at helping individuals and families affected by domestic/intimate partner violence or abuse. It is a crucial component of the broader efforts to address and combat domestic violence, a pattern of abusive behaviors within intimate relationships that can encompass physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or economic abuse.
In domestic violence therapy, trained therapists create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment. The goals clients have going into domestic violence therapy vary with each person. Self determination is always respected meaning you control your next steps....always!
Our work includes a lot of psychoeducation on Power and Control and its impact on the individual.
Our work may also include a Danger Assessment if there are significant concerns for safety.
WHAT IS TF-CBT?
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) was developed by Drs. Anthony Mannarino, Judith Cohen and Esther Deblinger.
TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been evaluated and refined during the past 30 years to help children and adolescents recover after trauma.
TF-CBT is a structured, short-term treatment model that effectively improves a range of trauma-related outcomes in 8-25 sessions with the child/adolescent and caregiver. Although TF-CBT is highly effective at improving youth posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms and diagnosis, a PTSD diagnosis is not required in order to receive this treatment.
TF-CBT also effectively addresses many other trauma impacts, including affective (e.g., depressive, anxiety), cognitive and behavioral problems, as well as improving the participating parent’s or caregiver’s personal distress about the child’s traumatic experience, effective parenting skills, and supportive interactions with the child.
Those charged with a crime in Massachusetts face the possibility of fines, probation, or imprisonment, or a combination of each. However, in certain instances, a case can be disposed of with pre-trial diversion.
Those who are eligible for pre-trial diversion will be able to avoid traditional prosecution in the criminal justice system by participating in a program aimed at self-improvement.
Following a recently enacted criminal justice reform bill, Massachusetts has expanded the eligibility requirements for its pre-trial diversion programs.
Silver Lining works in the spirit of transparency and encourages any questions prior to the start of the work and as releases are being signed to evidence progress and struggles.
Prior to intake, Silver Lining would review the diversion goals before taking next steps. This is to support the individual who has court developed goals.
Silver Lining's goals remains the same....to help the individual work through difficult moments including problems with the legal system as they address any maladaptive behaviors that are not serving them well.
